WALKABOUTSVERSE 180 OF 230

Poem 180 of 230:  WHITLEY BAY FISHERMEN - AUTUMN 2001

But for the ghostly lighthouse on Saint Mary’s,
The, matching, moonlit wash of broken waves,
The distant bulbs of freighters sailing the seas,
The Down Under’s lights, from human-made caves,
And the just-inland beams of Friday’s zeal,
Their night’s beach fishing was all by feel.

(P.S:  I now prefer a vegan meal.)

No fishers the evening I returned to Whitley
Bay during spring 2014 - just a fishy poster!
